The Best Time to See Covered Bridges in Pennsylvania

Few sights capture the charm of the countryside like covered bridges in Pennsylvania. Built in the 19th and early 20th centuries, these wooden structures were designed to protect the bridge decks from harsh weather and extend their life. Today, they stand as reminders of craftsmanship and history. Every autumn, they become even more striking as the fall colors in Pennsylvania transform the leaves from verdant greens to bright, vibrant hues, framing their weathered timbers. Visitors from across the region come to photograph and experience these unique landmarks.

One of the most scenic examples is the Kidd’s Mill Covered Bridge near Sharon, Pennsylvania. This bridge is the only remaining Smith Truss bridge in the state and has earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places. Nestled among fields and trees, it’s a favorite spot for fall photos and quiet moments away from the city. It’s a scenic 20 minute drive from our boutique hotel in Sharon, and there are plenty of things to do and see along the way.
